Choosing your wedding stationery can be a minefield. We’re not just talking wedding invitations online, but the whole shebang, save the date cards, rsvp cards, thank you cards and all the rest. You’ve also got to consider reception items such as wedding place cards and wedding favours… and this is all before the complexities of who to invite, where to seat them, how many to invite, and whether plus-ones are allowed! Although it may be tempting to go running for the hills, bear with us. Wedding correspondence is what builds the bridge between your guests and the big day itself. Once you’ve nailed your wedding cards, the rest will be a breeze.

Finding your theme

The theme. Where do we start? Deciding on a theme can be overwhelming with so many ideas buzzing round both your own head and the Internet, but it is a crucial element to wedding planning. With sites likes Pinterest overflowing with out-of-this-world wedding photos and I-wish-I-thought-of-that ideas, you may find yourself drowning in mood boards and inspiration walls. Unfortunately, you can’t have it all. The best way to choose your wedding stationery theme is, ultimately, to consider which designs and colours say the most about you, and what message you are trying to give out.

1. Check out current design trends

First things first, get browsing. Bridal magazines, wedding blogs, wedding fairs and Pinterest boards are all great sources of inspiration in finding the perfect theme for your wedding cards. Build up a collection of images and styles that you like and gradually strip it down to what works best for you. Here are our top five favourite wedding invitation trends for 2016 to get you started:

WATERCOLOUR

Watercolour designs offer romantic, floral imagery without the cliché. Opt for soft pastels and ombre shading for a subtle fashion statement.  Graduations of saturation and tone can infuse your wedding stationery package with more life.

GOLD FOIL

Nothing says luxury like a splash of gold. Whether you want to make a big statement with your wedding stationery or take a more elegant stance, gold foil works either way. It’s the perfect method to give a traditional twist to otherwise modern designs.

1920s/ART DECO

If vintage glamour is your bag, then a roaring 20s, Gatsby-style theme could be the way to go. The Art Deco design is characterised by bold geometric forms, symmetry and high contrast colour.

BOTANICAL

Botanical themed imagery is a hot topic within wedding stationery right now, with Australia’s best illustrators creating cute woodland designs left, right and centre.

INDUSTRIAL CHIC

Exposed brickwork, stripped back lighting and rusting metal inspires an industrial wedding stationery theme. Its raw, simple print lends itself well to Letterpress. Despite working best on wedding stationery, this particular trend is extremely versatile and lends itself well to interior design. Why not go the whole hog and carry the theme though to your wedding cake, dress and venue?

2. Choose a colour palette

It’s a huge relief when you find the perfect colour palette to use throughout your wedding stationery set. Not only reserved for paper, the colour scheme spans the whole event from bouquets to cakes to bridesmaid dresses. Every year, Pantone release their top colour picks and trends for the season ahead. In 2016 there are two colours:  “Rose Quartz” and “Serenity” (in the open air) and their soft, cool and warm colours balance one another and are highly influential to wedding colour schemes in 2016 and 2017. Here are some of the top colours this year:

A Plain-English Guide to Wedding Invitation Printing

The print method you choose for your wedding invitations affects how they look, how they feel in someone’s hand, and how much they cost. Some techniques are flat and graphic, others are deeply tactile. Some work on any design, others require specific paper stocks or minimum quantities.

This guide covers every print method Paperlust offers, written so you can quickly understand what each one looks like, what aesthetic it creates, and whether it fits your wedding.

1. Digital Print

Digital print is the most versatile method available, and versatile doesn’t mean plain. It can reproduce any color, any level of detail, any design: from full watercolor florals to clean typography to photo invitations. Whatever you see on screen is what you get on paper.

Digital print wedding invitation in modern minimalist tri-fold style

What it looks like: crisp, full-color reproduction with clean edges. The print itself is flat, though the paper adds its own texture and feel.

Best for: colorful designs, botanical and floral artwork, illustrated invitations, designs with gradients or complex color. Essentially anything where full color range matters.

Minimum order: 10 cards. It’s the most accessible and most affordable of all Paperlust’s print methods.

2. Letterpress

Letterpress uses a plate to press ink deep into thick paper, leaving a visible impression in the surface. It’s one of the most tactile print experiences: you can see and feel the depth of every letter and design element.

Letterpress save the date cards with debossed black typography on thick white stock

What it looks like: deeply pressed text with visible ink and a slight raised edge on the reverse of the card. It looks crafted, in the best possible way. Nothing else quite replicates that quality.

Best for: minimal designs with generous white space, classic and formal aesthetics, couples who want something with genuine physical presence that feels handmade.

Paper: 300gsm or 600gsm Wild Cotton, a soft, fibrous cotton paper that takes the impression beautifully.

Minimum order: 50 cards.

3. Flat Foil

Flat foil applies a smooth metallic layer directly to the card surface using heat, without a custom die or any debossing. The result is a clean, polished metallic finish that sits flush with the paper.

Flat foil wedding invitation suite with copper metallic finish showing reflective foil sheen on arch design

What it looks like: bright, reflective metallic shimmer that catches the light. No texture from the foil itself, no indent in the paper. Just genuine metallic shine.

Colors available: gold, silver, rose gold, copper.

Paper: 380gsm Premium paper.

Minimum order: 10 cards.

Best for: modern couples who want a genuine metallic finish without the 50-card minimum, smaller weddings, intimate celebrations, anyone who wants clean metallic detail on a contemporary design without deep impression.

Flat foil printing offers a sleek metallic finish without a deep impression, making it a more flexible and cost-effective option for modern designs. It’s also commonly used across other printed items like packaging and branding materials. For example, foil printing beyond invitations, foil stickers and foil business cards can help extend this effect across different touchpoints in a practical and scalable way

4. Foil Stamp

Foil stamp uses a custom die (a metal plate made to your specific design) that’s pressed into the paper with heat and pressure. Two things happen simultaneously: the foil is applied and the paper is debossed, creating a permanent impression.

What it looks like: metallic foil with visible depth. You can see the sheen and feel the indent. Run your finger across it and the design is unmistakable. It’s the most tactile and luxurious of all the foil options.

Colors available: gold, silver, rose gold, copper.

Paper: Wild Cotton.

Minimum order: 50 cards.

Best for: formal or black-tie weddings, couples who want the most elevated and sensory invitation possible, intricate designs where the debossed detail adds a layer of sophistication that flat foil can’t achieve.

5. Metallic Ink

Metallic ink is printed using inks that contain metallic particles, creating a shimmer effect without using actual foil. It’s subtler than true foil, with a softer, slightly muted gleam rather than a high-polish mirror finish.

Wedding invitation with gold metallic ink lettering styled with paintbrushes and watercolor palette

What it looks like: a soft shimmer that catches the light at certain angles. More understated than foil, but noticeably richer than standard ink. In some designs, that restraint is exactly right.

Best for: couples who want a touch of metallic in their design without the cost or commitment of foil, designs where metallic is an accent rather than the hero element, smaller budgets that still want some sparkle.

6. White Ink

White ink prints white text or design elements on colored or dark paper. It creates an understated, elegant, monochromatic look that works particularly well on deeper stocks.

White ink save the date printed on dark charcoal card stock

What it looks like: soft white lettering or design elements against a darker background. On deep navy or black paper, it’s striking. On sage green or dusty blue, it’s quietly beautiful. The effect is simultaneously modern and refined.

Worth knowing: white ink is not available on blush paper.

Best for: modern minimal designs on colored stocks, monochromatic aesthetics, couples who want to move away from the traditional black-on-white invitation without committing to a complex colorful design.

7. Embossing

Embossing is a newer addition to Paperlust’s print options. It raises the paper surface to create dimensional texture, with no ink or foil required. The design element literally stands above the rest of the card. It can be done blind (no ink or foil, just the raised texture) or combined with ink or foil for a more dramatic effect.

What it looks like: a tactile raised area that you notice as much by touch as by sight. Subtle in photographs, impressive in person. It adds a layer of craftsmanship that people often notice without immediately understanding why the invitation feels special.

Best for: adding dimension to a monogram, floral element, or border detail, couples who want a sensory invitation that rewards close attention. Embossing is available through Paperlust’s custom design service.

Choosing the Right Method for Your Wedding

Not sure where to start? Here’s a simple way to think about it:

  • Want full color and maximum design flexibility? Digital print.
  • Want deep tactile impression and a classic handcrafted feel? Letterpress on Wild Cotton.
  • Want genuine metallic shine, smaller order? Flat foil from 10 cards.
  • Want the most luxurious metallic and tactile finish? Foil stamp from 50 cards.
  • Want subtle metallic shimmer on a tighter budget? Metallic ink.
  • Want elegant white lettering on a colored stock? White ink.
  • Want dimensional texture that people notice when they hold the card? Embossing.

You can also combine methods: letterpress with a foil accent, digital print with embossing. If you have a specific combination in mind, Paperlust’s team can advise on what works best.

Feel the Difference Before You Order

Reading about paper and print finishes is one thing. Holding them is another. The $5 sample pack includes 7 designs across the main print methods, so you can feel the difference between letterpress and digital print, foil stamp and flat foil, before you commit to a full order.

If you already have a design ready and just need it professionally printed, you can upload your own artwork and choose your preferred print method and paper stock.

A new year, a new Pantone Colour of the Year 2025. Yay! The Colour of the Year is always on-trend, and you can count on seeing it everywhere as 2025 rolls on: in every creative industry and worldwide. Wedding invitations? You bet! For 2025, the colour is PANTONE 17-1230, Mocha Mousse, a warming brown hue imbued with an inherent richness that evokes the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate and coffee, appealing to our desire for comfort.

Inspired by the “little treat” self-care trend, those moments spent savouring a latte or a chocolate truffle Mocha Mousse bring a sensorial warmth and thoughtful indulgence to everything it touches.

What is Mocha Mousse

Pantone describes Mocha Mousse as “sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic,” extending our perceptions of browns from humble and grounded to aspirational and luxe. It honours our craving for everyday pleasures while syncing us with nature’s nurturing essence, promoting balance and positively impacting our well-being.

mocha mouse panthone color of the year

In 2025, Mocha Mousse will appear everywhere: in fashion, design, furnishings, and of course in weddings. A rich brown might seem an unexpected choice for a wedding palette, but used correctly, it will change your mind.

Mocha Mousse works best in small bursts, paired with more neutral tones think creamy ivories, soft beiges and warm taupes. If you’re after more contrast, try matching it with deep, grounding shades like forest greens, burgundy, or even dusky blushes to echo its subtle pink undertones. Use Mocha Mousse as a unifying theme amid jewel-toned florals for an autumn or winter celebration. You can also introduce hue pops against a sleek white backdrop to draw focus to your stationery and let the richness of the brown anchor the day.

If the precise PANTONE 17-1230 isn’t quite your cup of tea, explore slightly lighter or deeper versions any iteration of a warm brown will put you on-trend. Since Mocha Mousse symbolises comfort and thoughtful indulgence, it brings the perfect energy to the start of your life together.

Baby showers are making a comeback in a big way, and they have had a makeover! Women everywhere are embracing the event and making it their own. No longer just a kitsch opportunity to play some embarrassing games and get some pressies, people are making it a rite of passage and an opportunity to rally support ahead of the birth and the big changes that are coming.

This has meant people have been making baby showers into must-attend events: making the theme fun, the décor gorgeous and the guest list broad. That same level of design care should extend to the post-shower follow-up, match your baby shower thank-you cards to the invitation aesthetic for a complete suite. Many are now inviting the men along too and making it a whole family affair. Whether serious and chic or casual and fun, it makes sense to have gorgeous baby shower invitations to match! Here are some of our favourite upcoming trends in baby shower stationery.

Nature Inspired

Nature is a perfect option for a baby shower, since it tends to be a feature of kids books, toys and nursery décor. It evokes a sense of discovery and learning all about the world for the first time. Everything is new and exciting to a small child, and that feeling is contagious! What better feeling to capture in your baby shower invitations. Nature is, of course, a super broad area, so there are so many themes to choose from!

Here are just a few suggestions:

You can go big with an illustration taking the stage on your invites or keep it simple with a small nod to the theme on the invitations. You can always decide to go big on the theme at the actual event. Either way, it’s bound to be a winner.

Kid’s Stuff

What better way to celebrate the arrival of a child than with the things children use, need or love. Consider:

  • Bottles, prams, nappies, dummies, high chairs
  • Teddy bears, stuffed toys, winnie the pooh baby shower invitations
  • Alphabet blocks, rattles
  • Children’s books
  • Baby clothes, onesies
  • Favourite children’s characters from books or films

You could also include illustrations or photos of babies or children themselves. The trick is to keep it cute and classy. Less is more when it comes to stylish illustrations, so they shouldn’t just be piled on the invite. One larger feature image or a few smaller ones should be plenty to set the scene.

Baby Shower Invitations For Boys

When it comes to celebrating a baby boy on the way, patterned invitations are a timeless favourite. Think stripes, checks, stars or playful animal motifs, they add a fun, boyish charm without feeling too cliché. While classic blues still reign supreme, don’t shy away from soft greens, warm neutrals or even pops of mustard for something a little more unexpected. Whether you’re going for sweet and simple or bold and bright, there’s a patterned design to suit every kind of party vibe.

Think delicate fonts, clean layouts, and a hint of blush or rose gold to tie it all together. There’s one element of a wedding that plays a huge role in tone and decor but is frequently underappreciated: wedding furniture. Furniture is part of both the ceremony and the reception, takes up large amounts of space in any venue, and is part of every individual guest’s experience. It’s in almost every photo taken on the day. It needs to be attractive and stylish, but also functional: a table or chair collapsing at an inopportune moment can ruin even the most beautiful wedding.

Some of the most common furniture pieces for a wedding include:

  • Easel to hold the welcome sign
  • Ceremony seating chart
  • Table and chairs for signing paperwork
  • Backdrop, arbour, arch or other structure for ceremony
  • Tables and display furniture for showing mementos, photos etc.
  • Photo session prop furniture (e.g. a nicely upholstered couch)
  • Reception tables
  • Reception dining chairs
  • Couches, arm chairs, and coffee tables
  • Bars and bar carts
  • Buffet tables and servers
  • Sign holders and easels
  • Screens and dividers
  • Planters and greenery

There are four main stages to finding the right wedding furniture for you: Be inspired by online roundups and photo shoots, get practical and plan to ensure all your needs are met, hire what you can, and then shop for some beautiful feature pieces.

Be Inspired

Wedding FurnitureBefore anything is booked or bought, it’s a good idea to know what sort of wedding furniture is available and what different possibilities exist in terms of style and function. Start by browsing online. Look at wedding and event blogs, and spend some quality time on Pinterest. Browse furniture stores online to see what is trending in homes: it’s increasingly popular to pass up standard ‘event’ furniture for pieces that look like they could have come straight from your place. Sites like House of Home that collate furniture available from different stores are particularly useful for this, rounding up things like dining chairs, dining tables, lounge seating and cabinets and display cases. Keep track of what you like and write a list of possible furniture styles you might be interested in having as part of your big day.

Plan

Wedding FurnitureOnce you’ve gathered some inspiration and know the styles you like, it’s time to consider all the practicalities so you can make concrete plans. Consider the style of wedding you are throwing, and your budget. Be realistic about how much you can afford to spend on furniture. Contact your venue(s) and confirm what furniture they provide and whether or not it will cost extra. If they offer different options, make arrangements to go in and make your choices.

Take the list of possible wedding furniture that you created during the inspiration-seeking stage, and whittle it down. Create a list of the furniture you absolutely need (e.g. seats for your guests), and a list of the furniture you want but don’t need (e.g. display cabinets). Mark off what is provided by the venue, and consider what you might hire, purchase, or borrow.

Hire

Wedding Furniture

It’s likely that you will hire most of the furniture you need for your wedding. Most people don’t want to purchase 200 dining chairs for one event, and probably don’t have the opportunity to borrow that many chairs from a friend either. You may be hiring the furniture as part of the venue package, or you may be dealing specifically with event hire companies. Hire companies have really grown up in the last few years. You’re no longer constrained to ugly and uncomfortable plastic bucket seats and folding tables just because you’re hiring in bulk. Businesses like LENZO hire out beautiful furniture that wouldn’t look out of place on the cover of a magazine. It’s always a good idea to place your order as soon as possible to ensure that you get the pick of the range and that everything you want is available on your chosen date.

Shop

Wedding FurnitureOnce you’ve worked out what wedding furniture you can hire, you can begin to fill in any gaps by other means. If you have the budget for it, consider purchasing some feature pieces. This allows you to choose things that are the absolute dream: a beautifully crafted table for signing the register, a plush upholstered couch to sit in while the minister gives a sermon, or a fancy timber display cabinet to show photos and hold programs. Purchasing furniture pieces like this also gives you the possibility of keeping a furniture memento in your home after the big day. Of course, if you don’t want to put these pieces in your own home, you can pass them on to a friend or resell them.

It’s hard to overstate how important wedding furniture is to the decor of your big day. If you take the time for all these steps, you’ll be sure to find the perfect furniture to create your dream wedding atmosphere and aesthetic.

Baby Shower Card Messages by Relationship

Who the card is for shapes everything: the level of warmth, the inside references you can draw on, and how much you can say. Here are messages organized by your relationship to the parents-to-be.

For Your Best Friend

Tip: Show excitement, solidarity, and support. You are in for the long haul with this one.

I cannot wait to welcome your little champion into the clan!
Through thick and thin, bump, bulge and belly, you have grown this bub and kept them healthy. The lifelong load can soon be shared; I am here for you until the end.
You are going to be the most incredible mother. I have known it since the day we met. This baby is already the luckiest kid alive.
Fair warning: I am already obsessed. I have rehearsed every lullaby I know and I am ready for every 3am call. You have my number. Use it.

For Your Sister

Tip: Sisterhood adds a layer of history that makes these messages land harder. Lean into it.

Watching you become a mother is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Our parents raised someone extraordinary, and now you are going to do the same.
I have been your biggest fan my whole life. Now I get to be your baby’s too.
We started as sisters, became best friends, and now we add the best title yet: auntie and mama. I cannot wait.

For a Relative or Old Friend

Tip: Time holds you together. Shared experiences will make your message meaningful.

For the many years we have known each other, I have known you would be a wonderful parent. Your little one is going to be one lucky kid!
Wishing you and [partner’s name] calm amid the storm, rest at 3am, and many joyful moments in between.
We have been through so much together. I have no doubt you are ready for this next chapter, even if no one is ever truly ready. You have got this.

For a Work Colleague or Acquaintance

Tip: Keep it simple and short, with plenty of positivity. A warm, professional tone is always appropriate here.

I am thrilled to be part of this special time of your life!
Wishing you all the happiness, luck, and patience in the world.
What an exciting time for your growing family! Congratulations to you both.
So happy to celebrate with you today. Wishing your family every blessing as you welcome this new arrival.

For the Baby

Tip: Writing your message directly to the baby can make it a keepsake the parents hold onto for years.

You do not know me yet, but I am going to be your fairy godmother, little angel!
May your life be filled with curiosity, learning, and love. And may you grow to understand that your wonderful parents love you unconditionally, even when you drive them crazy!
Hello, tiny human. The world is better already, and you have not even arrived yet. We cannot wait to meet you.

For a Parent Who Is Doing It Alone

Tip: Acknowledge strength without making it the entire focus. Lead with love and excitement.

You are going to be everything this baby needs: fierce, devoted, and endlessly loving. What a lucky little one.
The bravest, most capable parent is waiting on the other side of this shower, and that is you. We are all here cheering you on.

Funny Baby Shower Card Messages: 15 Lines That Will Get a Laugh

Humor is welcome at baby showers, just remember to end on a positive note. The best funny messages acknowledge the chaos of parenthood while expressing genuine love and support.

Love is about to get real. Real crazy, real messy, and real loud! You are gonna do real great.
Babies are the most creative people. They create noise, tears, sleepless nights, and unexpected laundry! And you will never know more joy through the madness.
Sleep now. Sleep as much as you possibly can. This is not a suggestion.
They said parenthood would change your life. They forgot to mention it would also change every single outfit you own.
Welcome to the club where the meetings are held at 3am, the dress code is whatever is clean, and the membership rewards are hugs that make everything worth it.
Your house will be loud. Your coffee will be cold. Your heart will be so full it is actually concerning. Congratulations!
I Googled “how to survive as a new parent” and the internet said to ask your village. Hi. I am your village.
You are about to meet a tiny dictator who will run your entire life and somehow make you love every second of it.
They say it takes a village. Lucky for you, I come with casseroles.
Parenthood: the only job where you get no training, no sleep, and a ridiculously generous benefits package.
Fair warning: I have already started practicing my spoil-the-baby face. It took years to perfect. Your child is going to love me more than you.
You think you know what tired feels like. You are adorable.
I promise to always be honest with you: it is hard, it is beautiful, and it gets better. Eventually. You have totally got this.
Congratulations! You have just been promoted to the most demanding and most rewarding role in existence. The perks are excellent. The hours are not.
They will keep you up all night and then look at you in the morning like you are their whole world. Spoiler: you are. Congratulations.

Christian and Spiritual Baby Shower Card Messages

Faith-based messages can be deeply meaningful when you know the parents share a religious or spiritual perspective. If you are not certain, a broadly warm sentiment is a safe and thoughtful choice.

Tip: These messages are also appropriate for baptism and christening cards.

May your family be blessed with happiness and goodness as it welcomes its newest addition.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”, Jeremiah 1:5. This little one is known and loved before they have even arrived. What a gift.
Every good and perfect gift comes from above. Congratulations on the most perfect gift of all.
May God guide your hands as you raise this precious child, and may your home always be filled with His peace.
Children are a heritage from the Lord. You have been given a gift beyond measure. Wishing you every blessing as you welcome them home.

Quotes and Poems for Baby Shower Card Messages

A well-placed quote or short poem can add depth to your message. Keep it brief and relevant so it adds to your note rather than replacing it.

Sweet Baby (abridged) by Linda Ori

Baby, sweet baby, your cute button nose,
Your soft tiny fingers and sweet baby toes,

So precious and tender your love is to me,
Until I first held you, I never could see
How wonderfully magical my life could be —

Baby Shower Card Message FAQs

What is a good baby shower card message for a close friend?

For a close friend, lean into your shared history and genuine excitement. Something like: “You are going to be the most incredible mother. I have known it since the day we met. This baby is already the luckiest kid alive.” Specific, personal, and warm beats generic every time.

What should I write in a baby shower card if I don’t know the parents well?

Keep it short and sincere. A simple “Congratulations on your exciting news! Wishing you and your family every happiness as you welcome your new arrival” is always appropriate. You do not need to be close to write something meaningful, warmth and good wishes are enough.

Is it okay to write something funny in a baby shower card?

Absolutely, humor is welcome, especially if you know the parents well. The key is to end on a positive note. Start with a funny line, then close with genuine love or encouragement. Avoid humor that leans too heavily on the difficulties of parenthood without balancing it with support.

How long should a baby shower card message be?

Two to four sentences is the sweet spot for most relationships. Close friends and family can go longer if the message feels genuine. For colleagues or acquaintances, one to two warm sentences is ideal. Baby shower cards are often read aloud during gift opening, so shorter messages land well in that setting.

Should I address the card to the mother, the father, or both parents?

If it is a couples shower or co-ed event, address both parents. For a traditional mother-only shower, addressing the guest of honor is fine. Use both names if you know them, it shows care and attention.

Can I write a message directly to the baby?

Yes, and parents often treasure these for years. Keep it warm, hopeful, and brief. Something like: “Hello, tiny human. The world is better already, and you have not even arrived yet. We cannot wait to meet you.” These messages are often placed in a baby book.

What are good Christian baby shower card messages?

Faith-based messages work best when you know the family shares that perspective. Options like “May God guide your hands as you raise this precious child” or quoting Jeremiah 1:5 can be deeply meaningful. If you are not sure about their faith background, a broadly warm and hopeful message is always a safe and beautiful choice.

What should I write on a gender reveal card?

If the reveal has already happened, celebrate with specificity: “A girl! Get ready to have your heart stolen completely, congratulations!” If you are writing before the reveal, keep it neutral: “Whatever the color, this baby is already so loved.” Both approaches are thoughtful and appropriate.

What is a good baby shower card message from a coworker?

Keep it professional and warm. “Wishing you all the happiness, luck, and patience in the world” or “What an exciting time for your growing family! Congratulations to you both” strikes the right balance of genuine warmth without overstepping the professional relationship.

Should I add a poem or quote to my baby shower card?

A short quote or one verse of a poem can add a beautiful touch, but treat it as a complement to your own words, not a replacement. Write your personal message first, then add the quote underneath with the attribution. Avoid quotes that are so long they overshadow your note.

It’s no secret, the way people are shopping is evolving. There’s an increasing desire to design and buy custom-designed items that serve as a unique representation of your personality. This ever-expanding market is catering directly to wildly creative individuals, who craft their identities by expressing their style and preferences through their purchases.

With spring fast-approaching, we take a look at perhaps the most personal expression of your feelings. An engagement ring. Your love is unique – why shouldn’t your engagement ring be unique too?

Engagement rings are traditionally, and still to this day, worn as a sign of commitment and unity. This ring will be worn for decades to come and should uniquely express your love story and suit the style of its wearer.

That’s not to say that a ring in your preferred style doesn’t exist, but if you want to personalise your ring in a way that makes it entirely one of a kind, designing a custom engagement ring is for you.

Selecting a pre-designed and made ring off the shelves of your local jewellers is certainly a quick approach to choosing an engagement ring. However, the perfect engagement ring isn’t always that easy to find. Combining different design elements can result in entirely different finishes and styles. Custom isn’t just about making a choice; it’s about making your ideas a reality.

You have the unique opportunity to work with a talented designer, who will work to bring your imagination to life in the form of an entirely bespoke ring. Regular, direct communication along with the opportunity to give direct feedback and have amendments made on your design, encourages you to be creative in really expressing your vision.

Your design consultant is there to offer their advice and guidance from beginning to end. They’ll show you sketches, 3D CADs and 360 views of your design, you can even have a sterling silver replica of your design crafted before you finalise your design so you can physically see and touch your design before going ahead.

And this will continue throughout your relationship. Your wedding will be an expression of who you are as a couple, with personalised suits and dresses, custom wedding invitations and song playlists. Your holidays will be planned to include your favourite hobbies and restaurants. Even your workouts are customised with your personal trainer. The same can be said for your wedding stationery and of course the paper of all paper for the day, the wedding invitations. Paper has no bounds. With the rising trend of floral or botanical print stationery you can maintain the same theme through every step of the wedding.

Wedding invitations can establish your wedding style. From the first save the date invitations to the final thank you cards, your guests know what they are in for. It is ideal to start planning your wedding set six months to a year before so you can make sure every last detail ties in. Floral Print Wedding Stationery

From gorgeous letterpress designs, subtle watercolour to traces of foil stamped leaves, the floral wedding stationery trend is timeless. So when you look back at your wedding mementos in ten years you can rest assured that you didn’t get swept away with a phase.

Unlike traditional floral stationery, floral designs are now inspiring a range of leading and emerging designers in Australia.

Most associate the floral planning with the bride, but that’s no longer the case with floral wedding invitations. Floral designs and continuously becoming more gender friendly with designs that aren’t too ‘girly’.

This can be achieved by choosing a black and white colour scheme. Floral Print Wedding Stationery

You can include bold fancy lettering an intricate design at the bottom. Your wedding theme remains effortlessly elegant. This leaves room to incorporate floral arrangements of any colour or even simple creams and whites.

Blue invitations are currently trending with Prussian blue and cornflower blue signifying romance, emotion and musicality.

If you have been gifted with a little creative flair you may want to add your own floral pattern to your wedding invitations. This works well with the more rustic designs on recycled cardboard paper. This method ensures that every floral inspired invite that you mail out is personal and unique.

Floral Print Wedding Stationery

The vintage trend remains steady, this year vintage and floral are merging to create a new vintage floral genre which can be personalised to the couple.

Couples are now in search of the ‘dated look’ which can be achieved through watercolour or decreasing the saturation of pigment to get a faded design. The faded botanical design can emulate a 1920s cascading blooms.

This trend allows for a lot of flexibility as it stands out from the crowd and moves away from the popular Pantone colours. New digital technologies leave room for an endless supply of colours.

Types of Floral Wedding Invitation Designs

Floral stationery is not one aesthetic – it’s a whole family of visual directions. Here’s how to identify which floral style is right for your wedding.

Loose watercolor florals: Painterly, soft-edged, spontaneous. Peonies, ranunculus, anemones, and garden roses in overlapping washes of color. This is the style that photographs best in natural light and looks most like a couture designer created it just for you. Suits garden, winery, and outdoor weddings.

Botanical line art: Fine-line drawings of specific botanical specimens – eucalyptus, ferns, wildflowers, olive branches. More structured and scientific in feel than watercolor florals. Works for couples who want botanical beauty with a more modern, editorial aesthetic. Particularly effective when combined with letterpress printing on cotton paper.

Maximalist floral wreaths: Dense, abundant borders of layered illustrated flowers that frame the invitation text completely. Bold, celebratory, and absolutely appropriate for spring and summer weddings with large floral arrangements. The invitation looks like a garden in full bloom.

Foil-stamped botanical details: A single botanical motif – a sprig of leaves, a small floral cluster, a vine detail – rendered in gold or rose gold foil against a clean background. This approach uses restraint to create impact: one perfectly placed foil detail is more elegant than a full border of printed flowers.

Coordinating Floral Stationery Across Your Suite

The stationery suite spans from save the dates to thank you cards – an 8 to 12 month period. Here’s how to keep the floral theme cohesive across every piece.

Start with your invitation: The invitation card is the anchor piece. Every other element in the suite should feel like it belongs to the same design family – using the same or complementary botanical motifs, the same color palette, and the same typography system.

Scale the motif: A full floral wreath on the invitation can become a single botanical sprig on the RSVP card, a corner detail on the details card, and a small leaf motif on the envelope liner. The same design language reads consistently across all formats and sizes.

Coordinate with your real florals: Share your invitation color palette with your florist early in the planning process. The more aligned your stationery and floral design, the more cohesive your whole wedding environment feels. This is particularly impactful in ceremony and reception photography – when the invitation, bouquet, and table arrangements share the same botanical vocabulary, the whole visual story hangs together.

A complete floral suite might include: save the dates from $1 per card, invitation and RSVP suite from $2.04 per card, plus printed table numbers, menus, and place cards. Custom floral stickers from Paperlust Print Shop add botanical detail to envelope seals and favor packaging.

Seasonal Floral Choices for Wedding Stationery

The flowers on your invitation don’t have to match the exact blooms at your wedding – but choosing seasonally appropriate florals creates a more cohesive, authentic feel.

Spring: Peonies, ranunculus, anemones, cherry blossom, sweet peas, tulips. Fresh, abundant, pastel-forward.

Summer: Roses, dahlias, sunflowers, wildflowers, lavender. Bold, saturated, full-bloomed.

Autumn: Dahlias, marigolds, chrysanthemums, dried pampas, seed pods. Warm tones, earthy textures.

Winter: Hellebores, white anemones, pine branches, berry sprigs, magnolia. Muted, elegant, architectural.

This Sydney wedding showcased the best of the country, taking place on a private property in Savernake, NSW in a stunning shed at the top of a hill. It struck the perfect balance between peaceful countryside and forest wonderland.

To tie in with the rustic composition of the wedding, Adelaide and Nathaniel had a small ceremony in Adelaide’s parents’ garden.

Adelaide and Nathaniel Real Wedding

The proposal was a modern-day fairytale that took place at Nat’s parents’ property. The shed became a motif that followed right from the Sydney couples wedding invitations through to the wedding day.

“Nat proposed at our family property in the middle of a paddock under a big old gum tree from which he had hung glass bauble lanterns lit by candles. I thought I was walking over to a shed to help Nat retrieve something until I saw the beautiful tree lit up.”

The newlywed couple chose something a little different for their invites. Instead of opting for the run-of-the-mill style in a digital print, they went a step further. Their invites were custom wedding invitations featuring an image of the shed in which they would celebrate their special day. The shed graphic was repeated on their entire wedding set, stamped onto their wedding invite, rsvp cards and place cards.

Their info cards were in line with the theme, with a treasure map format that led to the shed named ‘Wandong’. They were specially crafted by talented Paperlust designer Amelia.

“We asked Amelia to include an illustration of a shed on the invites. We loved what she did! The illustration flowed through the invites and other stationary we had, including the map she prepared and the guest book we created”

Adelaide and Nathaniel Real Wedding

The couple loved Amelia’s illustration so much that they designed personalised stubby holders for beer on the day.

“We also used it to create stubby holders given it was a warm day! Other than the main illustration the invites were simple and black and white so that it tied into everything we did!”

The farm-inspired wedding was photographed by talented Melbourne based Jakub and Zosia from Aparat Photography.

The floral arrangements had a personal touch with each of the bridesmaids crafting their own bouquets, lapel flowers and table arrangements. Yarrawonga-based florist Floral Harvest designed Adelaide’s bouquet, and the bespoke bouquet was a centrepiece to the special day.

To match her beautiful bouquet, Adelaide chose a stunning lace ivory dress from Melbourne designer Suzanne Harward. It was a stand-out amongst the greenery throughout the day.

We love a little DIY, and Adelaide and Nathaniel were able to incorporate DIY throughout the day including the lighting, flower stumps, platters, even table numbers!

“My mum and I made gum garlands for the table over a bottle of wine the night before the wedding and Mum made our wedding cake!”

Adelaide and Nathaniel Real Wedding

‘Savernake Social Pages’ was Adelaide and Nat’s version of a guest book. It was a fun touch that included a brief spiel about each of the guests to help everyone get to know each other. It was a great conversation starter and spoke to the intimate nature of the wedding.

The shed turned reception venue created a rustic vibe, and added a point of difference from the common wedding marquee.

While the shed used to house large farm machinery, Adelaide managed to provide an elegant contrast to the venue with different types of linen, gold votives and sprigs of green foliage.

Adelaide and Nathaniel Real Wedding

“We wanted to create a setting that reflected and complimented the rural country landscape of the property in an elegant way, and we were so pleased with the result”

Adelaide and Nathaniel Real Wedding

The simple wedding menus featured an array of Spanish, Moroccan and Mediterranean dishes with Pinchos Catering providing the delectable pintxos for the day.

“While far from unique, the most special and important thing was to have all our family and friends in the one place that meant so much to us. We were so excited to have the whole wedding at one location where the celebrations began as soon as people arrived, there was no break or travelling between the ceremony and reception, and where there was no set home time.”

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate a country-style wedding. Not one detail was spared in the proposal, the wedding invites or the breathtaking reception.

We would like to thank Adelaide and Nathaniel for sharing their wedding with us.
Best wishes to the happy couple!
