Wedding Venues Brisbane: 20 Best for 2026 (Riverside, Hinterland, Coast)

Outdoor wedding ceremony on Brisbane riverside lawn

Brisbane couples have something most Australian cities don’t: a venue map that runs from the Story Bridge all the way out to misty Maleny ridges and warm Burleigh sand, all inside a 90 minute drive. The trade off is choice paralysis, plus a few quiet rules locals know (storm season, Friday discounts, where guests will actually want to stay) that don’t make it onto the brochure pages.

We’ve put together this 2026 guide to make a Brisbane shortlist faster. Twenty real venues across riverside, hinterland, coast, garden, heritage and intimate categories, with capacity, indicative price tier and weather backup notes for each. We’ve also added a decision aid table, palette pairings for your stationery, and the booking window timing most Brisbane planners now recommend.

At a glance

  • Brisbane venue prices in 2026 cluster around $140 to $260 per person for Saturday packages, with hinterland estates at the top end and garden or heritage halls at the bottom.
  • Friday and Sunday weddings save 10 to 25 percent at most Brisbane venues, and mid week sit downs at hinterland estates can save more.
  • Book popular venues 14 to 18 months ahead for autumn (April to June) and spring (September to October), the two clearest weather windows.
  • Storm season runs November to March: every outdoor ceremony needs a documented wet weather backup, ideally undercover on site.
  • Out of town venues need an accommodation block for at least 30 percent of guests, plus a transport plan after 11pm.

How to use this guide

We’ve grouped 20 venues by setting so you can match a vibe to your guest list before you start chasing quotes. Each entry lists the typical sit down capacity, an indicative price tier (per head, Saturday, in season), and the wet weather backup style. Use the comparison table further down to narrow your shortlist to three or four, then book site visits over a single weekend so you can compare directly.

If you’re at the very start of planning, our save the date collection is the next step once a venue is locked in: send 8 to 10 months out so guests can book flights and accommodation, especially for hinterland or coast weddings.

Riverside and CBD venues

Brisbane’s riverside venues are the easiest sell for a guest list spread between Sydney, Melbourne and overseas. Hotels, bars and the airport are all within 20 minutes, and ceremony photos with the Story Bridge or Howard Smith Wharves precinct read instantly as Brisbane.

Howard Smith Wharves precinct (CBD, riverside)

The most in demand wedding precinct in the city right now, sitting under the Story Bridge in a restored heritage industrial setting. Multiple venues run by the same group (Felons, Greca, ARC) all share the river outlook and skyline backdrop. Capacity ranges from intimate 60 person dinners up to 300 plus cocktail receptions. Premium pricing, generally $200 to $260 per head with significant Saturday minimum spends. Wet weather backup is built in across all spaces. Best for couples who want CBD energy and a one venue solution including the after party.

Riverlife (Kangaroo Point cliffs)

An open air, cliff top venue right on the river with one of the best skyline views in Brisbane. Capacity 40 to 200 across marquee and lawn configurations. Mid range pricing, around $150 to $200 per head depending on package and food style (food trucks and grazing options bring it down). The exposed setting is the trade off: a marquee or indoor backup is essential, especially in storm season.

The Landing at Dockside (Kangaroo Point)

A more polished riverside option with air conditioned reception rooms paired with a lawn ceremony directly on the water. Capacity 50 to 250. Mid to upper pricing, typically $150 to $220 per head. Strong choice for guests who’d rather not stand in 32 degrees, and the indoor rooms double as the wet weather backup.

The Warehouse (Fortitude Valley)

Heritage exposed brick with high ceilings and a rooftop terrace, set on top of a hotel so accommodation is built in. Capacity 80 to 250. Wedding packages range widely (around $130 to $300 per head depending on inclusions). Best for couples who want an industrial, urban look with an outdoor moment that doesn’t depend on the weather holding.

Factory 51 (Coorparoo)

Inner south industrial warehouse with a festoon lit courtyard, smaller and more intimate than the CBD options. Capacity 40 to 150 sit down, up to 180 cocktail. Mid range, around $150 to $220 per head. Well rated food and a tight, in house wedding team make this one of the easier venues to plan around.

Hinterland venues: Maleny, Mt Tamborine and the Scenic Rim

If you can convince guests to drive or stay overnight, the hinterland is where Brisbane couples find the cinematic ridge top views, cooler air and on site accommodation that turns a wedding into a weekend. Plan for travel: Maleny is 90 minutes north, Mt Tamborine 75 minutes south, and the Scenic Rim ranges from 60 to 100 minutes. Build an accommodation block (most venues partner with nearby cabins or guesthouses) and run shuttle buses both ways.

Maleny Manor (Maleny)

Consistently listed in Australia’s top wedding venues. A 1920s manor on a Maleny ridge with sweeping views across the hinterland to the coast. Capacity 60 to 120 sit down. Premium pricing, $220 to $300 plus per head. On site accommodation, indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces, and an established wedding team. Books 18 months out for prime Saturdays.

Weddings at Tiffany’s (Maleny)

A classic white chapel paired with a glass walled reception room facing the Glass House Mountains. Capacity 40 to 120. Premium, $200 to $280 per head with all inclusive options. The chapel solves the wet weather problem entirely (it’s a fully indoor ceremony space with view windows), which is rare for a hinterland venue.

The Old Dairy Maleny (Maleny)

Luxe rustic, with restored barn and pavilion structures and panoramic hinterland views. Capacity 40 to 120. Mid to upper pricing depending on whether you BYO catering or use preferred suppliers. More private estate feel than the bigger Maleny venues, suits couples who want the venue to feel exclusively theirs for the day.

Cedar Creek Lodges (Mt Tamborine)

Rainforest, rockpools and a creek running through the property, with multiple ceremony locations and on site lodge accommodation. Capacity 30 to 160 across spaces. Mid range, $150 to $220 per head. Strongest choice for couples whose guests will make a weekend of it: most stay on site Friday to Sunday.

Beechmont Estate (Scenic Rim)

A luxury lodge on rolling hills near Lamington National Park, intentionally limited to a small number of weddings each year. Intimate to medium capacity (typically 40 to 100). Premium pricing, with on site accommodation and indoor backup built in. Suits couples who want a quiet, polished hinterland weekend without the bigger venue scale.

O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards (Scenic Rim)

Vineyard rows running down to a clear creek at the foot of Lamington National Park. Capacity 80 to 120 typical. Mid range. The creek side ceremony with vineyard reception is one of the most photographed setups in South East Queensland. Around 40 minutes from the Gold Coast and 90 from Brisbane.

Beach and coast adjacent venues

Brisbane’s nearest beaches are Redcliffe and the Bay islands, but the coast wedding map most couples build runs from Burleigh down south to Noosa up north. Both are inside two hours by car. Beach ceremonies need permits (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast councils both offer free or low cost ceremony booking on public beaches), and the wet weather backup question gets harder, so most couples pair a beach ceremony with a resort or restaurant reception.

For more on this topic, see our wedding venues Perth guide.

Burleigh Head National Park (Gold Coast)

Headland ceremonies with ocean and rainforest backdrops, often booked for elopements and micro weddings of 2 to 20. Free or very low cost (council booking required). Reception happens at one of the Burleigh restaurants or a private rental afterwards. Best for couples doing a small ceremony plus dinner format.

Sheraton Grand Mirage (Main Beach, Gold Coast)

Five star beachfront resort with direct beach access and lagoon pools. Capacity scales from intimate garden ceremonies up to 1,000 guest ballroom receptions. Mid to premium per head pricing, with the all in one resort model meaning accommodation is built in. Best for couples with interstate or international guests who want a destination feel without the long flight.

Browse our all-in-one invitations collection for matching designs across print methods.

Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort (Noosa)

A polished resort venue near Noosa Main Beach, with capacity from elopements up to around 300. Lake and hinterland views from the function spaces, with on site spa and accommodation. Mid to upper pricing. Two hours from Brisbane and increasingly popular for couples who want Noosa’s relaxed coastal feel without a fully DIY beach setup.

Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel (North Stradbroke / Minjerribah)

An hour by ferry from Brisbane, with beachfront ceremony locations and a relaxed island feel. Capacity around 40 to 120. Mid range. The ferry adds a logistics layer (your guests need a clear travel plan and most stay overnight), but the trade off is a genuine island wedding inside the SEQ region.

Botanical, garden and heritage venues

If you want greenery and heritage character without the hinterland drive, Brisbane has several mature garden venues and one of the country’s better heritage Queenslander estate options. These tend to suit Saturday afternoon ceremonies running into evening receptions, with manicured grounds doing most of the styling work for you.

Victoria Park (Herston)

A flexible garden venue right next to the city, with multiple function rooms and lawn ceremony locations. Capacity 15 to 400 across spaces, so it scales well for everything from intimate dinners to full size weddings. Mid range, packages from around $110 per head plus add ons. The view of the city skyline from the lawns is the main draw.

Boulevard Gardens (Indooroopilly)

Lush, secluded private gardens by the Brisbane River with the feeling of being further out than they are. Capacity 30 to 150 plus. Mid range, around $120 to $180 per head. A strong choice for couples who want a true garden ceremony plus reception in one venue without leaving Brisbane.

High Church (Fortitude Valley)

A restored heritage church with a rooftop terrace and modern fit out for the reception. Capacity 40 to 120. Mid to upper pricing, around $150 to $220 per head. The combination of heritage chapel ceremony plus rooftop reception makes it one of the more distinctive Brisbane options.

Newstead House (Newstead)

Brisbane’s oldest surviving home, set on parkland by the river. Used primarily for ceremonies (with reception held nearby), the heritage Queenslander architecture and lawns deliver classic photos. Ceremony site fees in the low thousands, with marquee or in venue catering layered on for full receptions. Capacity 20 to 150 plus on the lawns.

Modern industrial and intimate or elopement venues

The last group covers two ends of the spectrum: warehouse style spaces for couples who want a city, edgy aesthetic, and small format venues for elopements or guest lists under 30. Both formats have grown in 2025 and 2026 as couples deliberately choose either a more relaxed urban look or a smaller, higher per head spend.

The Black (Albion)

Industrial chic warehouse with a covered alfresco courtyard, useful for couples who want an outdoor feel without the rain risk. Capacity up to 60 seated or 170 cocktail in the main space. Mid range, around $150 to $200 per head. Suits a more relaxed cocktail format reception.

Lightspace (Bowen Hills)

A blank canvas warehouse space where you bring your own catering and styling. Capacity up to 200 plus. Pricing varies widely with the BYO model: venue hire is the floor (typically a few thousand for a Saturday) and your final per head spend depends on the suppliers you bring in. Best for couples who want full control of the look.

Spicers Tamarind Retreat (Maleny)

A small luxury retreat with on site villas, suited to elopements and weddings under 40 guests. Premium pricing built around exclusive use packages. The retreat handles ceremony, reception, accommodation and catering as one offer. Best for couples whose guest list is small and who want to combine wedding with mini honeymoon.

Nightfall Camp (Scenic Rim)

Off grid luxury glamping on the edge of Lamington National Park, designed for elopements and very small ceremonies. Premium per head, but the package is the entire experience: rainforest, creek, eco styling and accommodation included. Best for couples doing 2 to 12 guests and wanting something that doesn’t read like a traditional wedding venue at all.

Brisbane vs hinterland vs coast: the real trade off

The choice between staying in Brisbane and heading to the hinterland or coast is mostly a guest experience decision, not a budget one. Here’s what we hear most often from couples after the fact.

Brisbane CBD and riverside is the easiest on guests. Hotels, transport and the airport are all close, and you can run a Saturday afternoon ceremony into late night reception without anyone needing to plan accommodation around it. Per head pricing skews higher (especially around Howard Smith Wharves), but you save on accommodation logistics and shuttle costs.

Hinterland venues (Maleny, Mt Tamborine, Scenic Rim) deliver the dramatic photos and the weekend long feel, but they require an accommodation block for at least 30 percent of guests and a transport plan after 11pm. Most hinterland venues now expect a shuttle bus contract as part of the booking. Plan an extra 90 minutes either side of ceremony time for guest travel.

Coast venues (Burleigh, Noosa, Sheraton Mirage) sit between the two. Day of logistics are simpler than hinterland (most are walkable from accommodation) but you’re still asking interstate guests to travel further than the CBD. The reward is a wedding that doubles as a short holiday, which is increasingly the brief from couples whose guests are travelling internationally anyway.

QLD weather backup: storm season is non negotiable

South East Queensland’s storm season runs November through March, with the highest rainfall risk in January and February and the most consistent dry weather window in May, June and September. Storms here are typically late afternoon convective: the morning is fine, then a 30 minute cell rolls through around 4pm or 5pm. Outdoor ceremonies between 4pm and 6pm in summer carry a real risk.

Three rules from Brisbane planners we’ve spoken to:

  • Ceremony backup must be on site or within five minutes. Driving guests 20 minutes in a sudden storm doesn’t work. Every hinterland and riverside venue should answer the wet weather question with a specific room, marquee or covered structure.
  • Build the call cut off into your run sheet. Most couples make the indoor or outdoor call by midday on the day of, based on the BOM forecast. Your celebrant, photographer and stylist all need to know the call window.
  • Avoid 4pm to 5pm summer ceremonies. A 3pm ceremony lets you finish photos before storm cells typically hit. A 5:30pm ceremony often runs straight into one.

Autumn (April to early June) and early spring (September to early October) are the safest weather windows. They’re also the most competitive booking dates, which feeds into the next section.

2026 booking window timing

Brisbane’s competitive venues now book 14 to 18 months out for prime Saturdays in autumn and spring. Maleny and Howard Smith Wharves often go further out: 18 to 24 months for an October Saturday. The booking window has stretched since 2023 as guest counts came back to pre 2020 averages.

If you’re flexible on day of week, the picture changes substantially:

  • Friday weddings typically save 10 to 20 percent on per head package pricing and venue hire, and many venues will release Friday dates 12 months out (versus 18 for Saturday).
  • Sunday weddings save 15 to 25 percent and have shorter booking lead times. Long weekend Sundays are the exception (similar pricing and demand to Saturdays).
  • Mid week weddings at hinterland estates can save 30 percent or more. Guests need to take a day off, but your accommodation block negotiating power goes up.
  • Off season weddings (July, August, late November) are 15 to 25 percent cheaper at most venues, with the trade off being shorter daylight (winter) or higher humidity (late spring).

Once the venue is locked in, your stationery timeline is well defined. Send save the dates 8 to 10 months out, then invitations 8 to 10 weeks before the wedding. For hinterland and coast weddings with significant guest travel, push save the dates to 10 to 12 months and include accommodation and transport details upfront.

Palette pairings: matching your stationery to the venue

Brisbane’s venue settings split fairly cleanly into four palette families. Picking a stationery palette that echoes the venue avoids the disconnect that happens when invitation styling doesn’t match what guests see on the day.

Riverside and CBD: modern minimal

Clean white, charcoal, or soft taupe with a single accent (often blush, terracotta, or deep navy). Modern serif or sans typography. Howard Smith Wharves, The Landing and Riverlife all sit well with this palette. Foil accents on the invitation read as cohesive with the polished urban setting (browse our foil wedding invitations for gold and rose gold options).

Hinterland: eucalyptus and native AU

Sage, olive, soft cream and warm brown with native botanical illustration (eucalyptus, banksia, gum leaf). Letterpress on Wild Cotton stock matches the tactile, handcrafted feel of Maleny and Mt Tamborine venues. Earthy, textured papers do more work than glossy finishes here.

Beach and coast: coastal blue and sand

Soft blue, sand, off white and seagrass green with watercolour or hand painted detail. Lighter weight stocks (Matte, Premium) read as appropriate for a relaxed beach setting. Avoid heavy gloss finishes that fight the natural light.

Heritage Queenslander and chapel: cream and gold

Warm cream, ivory, soft gold and deep botanical green. Foil stamp on Wild Cotton matches the heritage architecture and reads as classic without being formal. High Church, Newstead House and Maleny Manor all sit in this family.

If you want to see how each palette translates to a full suite, our Brisbane stationery to match your venue guide pairs specific Paperlust collections to each Brisbane venue type with example designs.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Brisbane wedding venue cost in 2026?

Most Brisbane venues sit between $140 and $260 per person for Saturday packages including ceremony, reception, food and standard beverage. Garden and heritage halls run lower (from $110 per person at Victoria Park), while premium riverside and hinterland estates like Howard Smith Wharves and Maleny Manor sit at the top of the range. Venue hire is usually included in per head pricing for sit down weddings, but cocktail and BYO catering venues often charge venue hire separately.

How far in advance should I book a Brisbane wedding venue?

For prime Saturdays in autumn (April to June) or spring (September to October), book 14 to 18 months ahead. The most in demand venues (Maleny Manor, Howard Smith Wharves, Weddings at Tiffany’s) often book 18 to 24 months out. Friday and Sunday dates have shorter lead times (6 to 12 months), and mid week dates can sometimes be booked inside three months.

What’s the best time of year for a Brisbane wedding?

Autumn (April to early June) and early spring (September to early October) deliver the most reliable weather. Storm season runs November to March, with January and February the wettest months. Winter (June to August) is dry and mild, but daylight is shorter, which affects ceremony and photography timing.

Do I need a wet weather backup for an outdoor Brisbane ceremony?

Yes, regardless of season. Brisbane’s storm cells can roll in within an hour, and even autumn and spring see occasional surprise rain. Every outdoor venue should answer the wet weather question with a specific on site backup (indoor room, pavilion, marquee). If it doesn’t, plan to hire a structure or move the ceremony.

What are the cheapest Brisbane wedding venues?

Public parks and council managed sites (Newstead House lawns, New Farm Park, South Bank parklands) have ceremony fees in the low hundreds. Community halls and budget reception venues run from around $90 to $130 per head with BYO catering. Garden venues like Victoria Park start around $110 per head for full packages. The trade off is more DIY work on styling, suppliers and timeline coordination.

Are Friday or Sunday weddings cheaper in Brisbane?

Yes. Friday weddings typically save 10 to 20 percent on per head package pricing, and Sunday weddings save 15 to 25 percent. Some hinterland venues offer mid week pricing 30 percent below Saturday rates. The savings come both from venue rates and from supplier rates (photographers, stylists, celebrants often discount non Saturday work).
