Printed Birthday Invitations
Birthday invitations on Paperlust are printed cards for hosts and parents planning a party of any age, from children's parties to milestone birthdays and adult dinners.
Me and My Unicorn is one invitation card in the grid. It uses digital printing on Paperlust Matte paper at 178mm x 127mm, single-sided, with premium white envelopes included. The price is A$280 for 100 cards, which works out to A$2.80 per card.
How the Templates Work
A template is a finished design from the grid, not a blank frame. Templates carry the colours, artwork and type choices already set, so you only change what matters for your party. You edit the wording, fonts and colours online to turn it into a personalised birthday invite. Paperlust then prints the order and delivers printed cards with envelopes, not a file to print yourself.
On any template you can change the names, age, date, venue and all other wording, and adjust the fonts and colours. Photo designs also let you upload a picture, and single-sided designs can add a printed back online. If you have a special request, include it with the order and the designer will take care of it when creating the proof.
This is how the invite comes together:
- Pick a design from the grid that suits the age and party style.
- Type the wording and upload any photo in the online editor.
- Approve the proof so the designer knows the text is final.
- Wait for the printed cards to arrive at your address.
If you want to start from a layout and adjust more of the look, you can design your own in the online editor. The custom designs collection offers starting designs for this route. The wording guide sets out what to put on the card and gives wording examples.
Ages, Milestones and Occasions
For children's parties, browse the kids party designs for birthday invitations made for young guests. On the first birthday cards, you change the child's name, age and party date in the online editor. The Me and My Unicorn sample wording is set for a 4th birthday, and you can change that age too.
For milestone birthdays, browse 21st invitations and 18th party cards. The design Suddenly 30 is made specifically for a 30th. For older guests, 30th designs, 40th collection and 50th cards give age-specific starting points. Blooming 50 suits a 50th birthday. Adults planning parties or birthday dinners can use the same invites and change the age, date and venue online on any design.
If you want guests to know the date before the full party invitations arrive, a birthday save the date card works as an early announcement. The birthday save the date cards work the same way, with wording edited online and printed copies delivered to you.
Photo and Artwork Designs
Photo birthday invitations suit hosts who want a picture of the guest of honour on the card. On a photo design, the card includes a space for your own picture, which you upload in the online editor before checkout. The Polaroid photo design is one option, and it uses digital printing. Only photo designs take a photo, so other styles rely on artwork.
Me and My Unicorn uses a cute unicorn artwork, which suits a younger guest without needing a photo. That artwork is part of the template and can stay unchanged while you edit the wording. For more directions, read the birthday party invitation ideas guide.
What the Cards Cost
The table shows five named designs at the base order: 100 single-sided cards, 178mm x 127mm, with premium white envelopes included. Compare the design, print method, paper and shape, and the price for 100 cards. The cost of birthday invitations depends on the design, paper and quantity, and each product page shows live pricing for every option. Use the table to shortlist a style, then open that design for its own quantities.
| Design | Print method | Paper and shape | Suits | Price for 100 cards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suddenly 30 | Digital printing | Paperlust Matte, rectangle | a 30th birthday | A$280 |
| Polaroid | Digital printing | Paperlust Matte, rectangle | a photo of the guest of honour | A$280 |
| Liv | White ink | Paperlust Harvest card, double arch die-cut | light type on coloured card | A$610 |
| Forever Promise | Flat foil | Paperlust Matte, arch die-cut | a foil finish from 10 cards | A$759 |
| Blooming 50 | Foil stamp | Paperlust Wild Cotton, rectangle | a 50th birthday | A$802 |
What you pay covers the card design, the printing, the designer proof with its edits, and premium white envelopes. The price changes with the paper, quantity, printed back and envelope colour. Other envelope colours are an extra, and the product page updates as each option is chosen.
Print Methods, Paper and Size
Every order on this page is printed in Melbourne.
- Digital printing lays down flat full-colour print. It is the simplest, quickest and lowest-cost method, with production of 3 to 5 working days after proof approval and a smallest order of 10 cards.
- White ink prints white as an extra colour on coloured card, so it suits light type on dark stock. Production is 3 to 5 working days after proof approval, from 10 cards. The Liv white ink design shows the method on Harvest, Hunter Green and Seedling card in a double arch die-cut.
- Flat foil applies metallic foil without a custom die, leaving no impression in the card. Foil colours include gold, silver, copper and rose gold. Production is 7 to 10 working days after proof approval, from 10 cards. The Forever Promise flat foil design uses an arch die-cut. Its paper choices are Matte Double T, Luxe and Paperlust Matte.
- Foil stamp presses the foil into the card with heat and pressure, leaving an indentation. Production is 20 to 23 working days after proof approval and starts at 50 cards. The Blooming 50 foil stamp design is printed on Paperlust Wild Cotton, a cotton paper, with Wild Cotton Double T also listed.
Papers differ per design and print method, and each product page lists its own papers. Me and My Unicorn, which uses digital printing, offers Matte, Metallic, Linen, Luxe, Wild Cotton and Matte Double T.
Proof, Delivery and Samples
After you order, a designer prepares a digital proof at no charge. The first proof usually takes 1 to 2 business days to arrive. You can ask for further edits as many times as needed. Production begins only after final proof approval. The full wait is the proof stage plus production plus delivery, each counted separately, and approving the proof earlier shortens the total. Delivery is free with StarTrack Premium. After dispatch, the order normally reaches metro addresses the next business day, and regional and rural addresses take longer.
Before you choose a design, order a sample pack for A$5 to receive a mix of printed samples that show different papers and print methods. The 100% Print Happiness Guarantee covers print faults with a reprint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Count households or families rather than individual guests. Order one card per household and round up to the next 10, because cards are sold in steps of 10. For Me and My Unicorn on Paperlust Matte at 178mm x 127mm single-sided, the price per card is A$7.77 at 10 cards, A$5.52 at 20, A$4.70 at 30 and A$4.14 at 50.
Rush production costs A$50. For digital printing and white ink, that fee shortens production to 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Flat foil drops to 3 to 5 working days, but not when the paper is Vellum. Foil stamp cannot be rushed at all.
Only photo designs have a space for a photo. Upload the original camera file or the photographer's file, not a copy saved from social media. The designer looks at the photo before anything is printed.
Single-sided designs can receive a printed back when you select that option online. On Me and My Unicorn, with digital printing on Paperlust Matte at 178mm x 127mm, 100 cards printed both sides cost A$3.00 per card, compared with A$2.80 per card single-sided.
Premium white envelopes are included with every card design. Other envelope colours cost extra. Guest addressing on the envelopes is A$0.20 each in black and white, or A$0.35 each in colour, and the price is per envelope.
Yes, a custom sample is A$15 and is printed on the paper you choose for designs printed with digital printing. It is not available on foil stamp designs. A swatch kit costs A$20. Regular post carries these samples, with a wait of 5 to 7 business days.
Paperlust reprints the job first. If a reprint does not resolve the problem, account credit or a refund can follow. You have 30 days from dispatch to report the problem. Any wording mistake you approved in the proof is not covered.
Most birthday invitations in the grid are 178mm x 127mm, in either portrait or landscape orientation. The die-cut shapes on Liv and Forever Promise keep that 178mm x 127mm size. Each product page lists the size for its design, so check before ordering if you need a particular fit.
No. The whole order is printed and delivered to one address. You then hand out or post the cards yourself. Paperlust does not send anything to your guests. The wording edits happen online before printing.
