We have used Paperlust many times, for invitations, welcome signs, save the dates, place cards, seating charts etc and we are always happy. Customer service is 10/10, if there is an issue with anything and you raise it, they work and work until you are happy with the result. They are also very reasonably priced compared to other places. Will be using them again in the future.

Postcard Wedding Invitations, Printed Without Envelopes

Why a postcard invitation is a format decision

Postcard wedding invitations look simple until you realize the entire invitation has to carry the names, the date, the venue, and the reply path on two sides with no envelope to hide behind. That constraint is the point. A postcard invitation is not a full invitation suite shrunk down. It is a single printed card designed for a different mail format.

For many couples, the appeal is immediate. Postcard invites arrive face up in the mail, qualify for the lower USPS postcard rate, and remove the cost of envelope liners, inner envelopes, and extra enclosure cards. Paperlust offers 500+ exclusive designs by independent artists, so the format decision is more about editing one design down to its essential message than starting from a blank page.

If you are still deciding between this and a fuller paper suite, our full wedding invitations selection covers envelope based options with reply cards and inserts. A postcard version is for couples who want one strong piece of mail that a guest can read in seconds.

What fits on a two-sided wedding postcard

The front and back do different work. The front tends to carry the moment: the couple's names, the wedding date, the city or venue, and often a photograph. The back carries the logistics that need more room: the wedding website, the RSVP deadline, dress code notes, and a short line about travel. Think of the front as the invitation and the back as a compact details card.

What usually gets cut is anything that would have been a separate insert. A weekend itinerary, a map, a full accommodations list, or a second ceremony card makes the card feel crowded. Move those details to a wedding website or send them later.

If you are using a photo, the image sits inside the template rather than replacing the layout. You customize the wording in the online editor, and a designer reviews placement and print quality as part of the proof. Prepare the photo at 300 dpi at print size or about 2MB, because a low resolution phone photo can pixelate at invitation size.

RSVPs and wording without an envelope

On a traditional invitation, the outer envelope handles formal names. On a postcard, the card itself has to name the guests, and there is no inner envelope to clarify whether children or plus ones are invited. Keep the wording explicit. A line like "Together with their families, Jordan and Sam invite you to their wedding" works on the front. On the reverse side, a short sentence such as "Please reply by June 1 at ourweddingsite.com" can replace a separate reply card.

With no envelope, there is nowhere to tuck a reply card. The two clean options are a postcard RSVP sent separately or, more commonly, a wedding website. A website keeps the reply paperless and lets you collect meal choices, song requests, and guest names in one place. If you prefer a physical reply, you can have a reply postcard printed and mail the invitation inside a standard envelope with that reply card tucked in, but that gives up the USPS postcard rate and the simpler no envelope format.

For couples who love the one card look but want the traditional enclosure flow, a reply postcard also works inside a full invitation suite. That idea is worth keeping: a small reply postcard can do the response job without adding a folded card.

The privacy tradeoff, stated plainly

A postcard is a visible piece of mail. Every postal worker, neighbor, and doorman along the route can see the names, date, venue, and website. That means the people you invited, and sometimes your wedding location, are on display. Most couples accept this because the card is meant to be looked at, and the open design is part of the charm. But it is a real tradeoff, and it is worth naming before you order.

If privacy matters more than the lower postage and the nostalgic reveal, a full invitation suite gives you an envelope and room for inserts. A postcard invitation suits couples who are comfortable with the exposure, or who are mailing a small list and want the mail to feel more personal.

Print methods and what they cost

Every postcard is made to order in the Melbourne studio. The method changes the feel, the production window, and the price per card. US prices below are quoted at an order of 100 cards.

Print methodProduction timeMinimum order
Digital3 to 5 business days10 cards
Metallic3 to 5 business days10 cards
White Ink3 to 5 business days10 cards
Flat Foil7 to 10 business days10 cards
Letterpress20 to 23 business days10 cards
Foil Stamping20 to 23 business days50 cards

All methods have a minimum order of 10 cards except foil stamping, which starts at 50 cards. Production begins after you approve the proof. These are production times, not transit times.

If you want to feel the difference before committing, order a $4 sample pack. It includes seven designs across different print methods, including a letterpress sample. A custom sample of your own design is available for most methods but not for letterpress.

How the order moves from screen to mailbox

You start by choosing a design template and personalizing it in the online editor. A professional designer is assigned to your order. Within 1 to 2 business days you receive a designer proof, and two rounds of edits are included at no extra cost. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.

Once you approve, your cards are printed to order in the Melbourne studio and shipped via DHL Express to all 50 US states, with 2 to 4 business days in transit. US orders over $350 ship free. Every order is backed by the 100% happiness guarantee.

If a postcard invitation feels right for the wedding, you may want the same format for the earlier notice. Our save the date postcards keep the one card approach and give guests the date before the full invitation arrives.

Postcard wedding invitation FAQ

Are postcard wedding invitations cheaper than standard invitations?

They can be. A postcard mails at the lower USPS postcard rate, and because there is no envelope or separate insert suite, you are not paying for those layers.

Can I get printable postcard wedding invitations from Paperlust?

Paperlust does not supply a printable PDF or downloadable file. You personalize a design template in the online editor, we print the finished card on a press, and we ship the printed invitations to you. Digital print refers only to the press method, not to a file.

How long do postcard wedding invitations take to produce?

Production takes 3 to 5 business days for digital, metallic, and white ink. Flat foil takes 7 to 10 business days, and letterpress and foil stamping take 20 to 23 business days. DHL Express transit to all 50 US states adds 2 to 4 business days after production.

Can I put a photo on a postcard wedding invitation?

Yes. The photo goes into the design template, you customize the wording, and a designer reviews placement and quality as part of the proof. Use a photo at 300 dpi at print size or about 2MB, because low resolution phone photos can pixelate at invitation size.

Can I order a sample before I commit to a full order?

Yes. A $4 sample pack includes seven designs across different print methods, including a letterpress sample. A custom sample of your own design is available for most methods, but not for letterpress.

Do postcard wedding invitations need an envelope?

No. A postcard invitation mails as a single card with no envelope and no separate suite. That keeps the format simple and uses the lower USPS postcard rate, but it also means the details are visible in transit.
